This started with a cup of coffee.
In our cosy room, my roommate and I were so fed up with our assignments that we decided to leave it there, enjoy our coffee and start talking.
We talked a lot about all kinds of things (Vietnam-China tension in the East Sea, ways to manage human resources, etc). Ultimately we reached the topic of dream.
LG showed me a collaborative poem written by grade 7 students in the U.S. My roommate used to volunteer at the school, so she collected responses from students, who were asked to answer the question: “What would happen to a dream deferred?”
This is what the kids got:
What would happen to a dream deferred?
…would it disappear like water in the sand?
…would it be blown away like a piece of paper in the wind?
…would it sink into the ocean like a broken ship?
…would it disappear like an echo?
…would it lead us to wrong direction like a broken GPS?
…would it melt like ice-cream in the summer?
…would we able to re-touch it, like a child awaken from a long night?
Isn’t it amazing?
Last night, I also came up with two sentences.
Would it reappear like the sun after a rainy day? Would it stick in my mind like a superglue?
Quite bad, I know. I’m not that great a poet.
However, the inspired me to have an idea: a short video about a dream deferred,a video that explored the concept of seeing your dream delayed, and perhaps lost.
To do so, what I need now is ideas from people. I would really love to hear your contributions to this collaborative poem. I am really interested in your thoughts.
